Globally, nearly 690 million people are undernourished, with about 196 million people residing in India. With the damage of COVID-19 pandemic, it is only obvious that more and more people have been pushed into poverty, which could have affected the progress made on reducing hunger.
India has the highest prevalence of wasted children under five years in the world, which reflects acute undernutrition, according to the Global Hunger Index 2020, as the situation has worsened in comparison to the previous years.
#HothurNutriMeals currently targets the people of India’s third largest metropolitan city, Bengaluru.
Recent surveys show that 85% of the poverty driven in Bengaluru had completely stopped working after the Nation wide lockdown in 2020. Along with 60% having no income to sustain daily meals.
The population of Bengaluru urban in poverty was enumerated as 87.5 lakh. With a steep escalation after the first wave of the pandemic. The second wave, along with the imposed conditions of the lockdown will push more people into vulnerability of starvation.

During the first lockdown in 2020 we have provided aid to the —victims of acid attacks, migrant workers and the disabled community with financial needs and healthcare supplies. And this time, we plan to do more, especially regarding the hunger crisis that looms over the city and the country as a whole.
We are providing meals with a high nutritional value. With a projected target of 2 lakh people that the meals would reach. With a vison to expand on a national level.
